Jack Womack is an 18-year-old fiddle player Western North Carolina native. Born and raised near Asheville, NC, but currently residing in Marshall, NC, Jack first picked up the fiddle at the age of 11, and never looked back. Jack’s mentors include many legends of traditional mountain music and bluegrass, such as Gary Mackey, Josh Goforth, Bobby Hicks, and Roger Howell. Whether performing at large festivals or small churches, Jack has drawn acclaim from international audiences for his authentic, yet intuitive, playing style. Additionally, Jack has won awards in contests such as the Southeastern Fiddle Championships and Ohio State Fiddle Championships, as well as in states as far as Indiana. Jack currently is a student, but continues to regularly play at contests, events, and jams. When not fiddling, Jack works as the Admin and PR Director at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre and officiates all levels of NCHSAA Volleyball. Jack’s ultimate mission is to help carry on the traditions of mountain music for generations to come, all while giving ultimate glory to the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
